This is an informal gathering of all sections to celebrate year end, and hand out awards.

2010 Cuboree!

Beaver Hills Cuboree 2010


Dates: May 28, 29 and 30 2010

Location: Edmonton Police Association Camp "Blue Meadows" (SW outskirts of city)

GPS Coordinates: N53 23.391 W113 39.070

The Beaver Hills Cuboree is a weekend Jamboree for Cubs and White Tail Beavers and is open to all Cub Packs in the Northern Lights Council. There is a limited amount of space at the camp, and therefore it is first registered and Groups providing Offer of Service, come first camp.

This Cuboree is a fun filled event with challenging programs, games and crafts.

With the location on the outskirts of the city, this camp provides an opportunity for the first time campers to experience camping and learn from long time campers.

The program will be run by Offer of Service Scouts, Venturers and Leaders.

Pass on A Good Turn!

CATCH THE WAVE!
It’s an event never before seen in Canadian history…and you will be a part of it! From March 7 – 13, 2010, Scouts Canada is celebrating our first ever National Good Turn Week, and we are totally pumped.

Like a wave across the nation, small acts of kindness from our youth everywhere will gather speed and momentum until they flood the airwaves and the hearts and minds of Canadians.

This is your chance to let the Canadian public know who we are and what we stand for. You believe, like we believe, that Scouting is the best youth organization ever. We are the finest ambassadors in the world for helping others; this is our chance to prove it. This project, your project, will have a powerful impact on Canadians from coast to coast to coast.

Whether you’re a Beaver, Cub, Scout, Venturer, Rover or leader…do your Good Turn, whatever it may be, and pass on your wristband. That person can do a Good Turn for someone else. Before we know it, hundreds of thousands of Good Turns will turn this nation into a kinder place, and they’ll all remember who started it: Scouts!

Don’t stop there…use your imagination to come up with good turns that are uniquely you. Think about approaching your local officials…mayors, local news personalities, etc. – they love projects like this, they love Scouts, and they’d love to wear their bracelets on the air!

Mundare Sausage Order Forms are here again.. We are going to be selling Rings of Mundare Sausage, Pepperoni, Kubi Burgers, Beef Jerky and Breakfast Sausage Patties. Prices are as follows:

Rings, Pepperoni,and Kubi Burgers: (approx, 1 lb packages)
$8.00 each OR $22.00 for 3 rings

Kub Kar Mega-Rally March 6, 2010 9:00am - 5:00pm

Kub Kar Mega-Rally 2010 is exciting this year!
March 6, 2010 at 9:00am - 5:00pm
New venue: Northlands Expo Center

Sponsored by Beaver Hills, this event is for all Cubs and Scouts in the Northern Lights Council. An event of this magnitude has not been held in years so plan to attend! Parents and friends of all race participants are invited to attend as well as the general public.

Some of the highlights of this event:
-dozens and dozens of new tracks will ensure all participants get to race more often with less waiting between heats
-electronic timers on all tracks will keep track of race results
-hundreds of prizes
-this will be a donation drop-off location for the Edmonton Food Bank so please bring a non-perishable item.

Due to the contract obligations with Northlands; No outside food or beverages will be allowed. So lunch will be provided with the kub kar registrations costs. Please see your leaders for details.
We will need confirmation of attendance by Feb 17th

Winter Camp 2010

Winter camp this year is the Strathcona Wilderness Centre, we will be leaving the Minchau School parking lot no later than 6:30pm on Friday February 5th.
At this time please be prepared to bring your cub to camp and pick up on Sunday when camp is complete. At this time we plan to have camp completed and ready to go by 1:30 to 2:00pm on Sunday February 7th.
If any concerns on transportation to camp please call or e-mail myself. The wilderness centre is well signed and not very far from the city. Please check website for a google map link.

Please review the camp supply list with your youth, and have the cub pack their own gear with your supervision. The reason for this the youth know what they have and where it is.
Please keep in mind that most of our activities and free time will be outside unless the weather is an extreme cold. So please make sure enough warm clothing is provided.

We need volunteer parents to attend this camp. The main role of a volunteer parent is staffing the kitchen and helping out with activities if needed. Volunteer parents can also participate in activities. Cost this year is $10.00 Per person

I would like confirmation by Jan 18th or Jan 22nd latest by e-mail. Please advise if you are able attend as well. We do have a limited amount of space so please let me know asap to get our numbers in.

Change of Venue

I have been advised that we have no facility on wed Jan 20th, so I have decided to have a family swim night.
Our swim night will be at Millennium Place in Sherwood Park, 2000 Premier way.
You will find a link to google maps showing directions at the 195Ridgewood web site on the cub calendar.

I will be there by 6:30pm and will remain in the lobby till 6:45pm, if you are running late or stuck in traffic please call my cell phone and myself or Valerie will wait for your arrival. This event is open to all family members. Admissions will be covered for all family members, only bring change for lockers. Any questions please call me.
